The venue of choice for Crafty Bastards will be at Union Market in northeast Washington.

Patrons to Union Market next weekend will get quite a treat as the 12th annual Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair will be held in the market’s rear staging area from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 26-27.

Union Market, located at 1309 5th Street NE, is a bustling, upscale marketplace in Northeastern Washington. The festival, hosted by the Washington City Paper, is a yearly tribute to the underground, alternative and hard-to-find artwork that makes the citizens of our nation’s capital so unique. Admission to the event is $5 each day, and tickets are also available online for purchase.

The artwork and handicrafts to be found at this event are all from gifted artisans who stray away from mass-produced goods and focus on items of their own creation. The festival will also feature a wide array of DIY food vendors and several entertainers, such as belly dancers and fashion shows, according to the Washington City Paper. The food exhibition will also include the Crafty Food Awards, a means of commendation for the city’s craftiest culinary talent.

Younger attendees can also delve into the Young & Crafty section at the venue, which displays the masterpieces of several younger vendors.

The Washington City Paper expects 30,000 attendees, so get those creative juices flowing.
